June roared in and out with the departure of Anthony from our home. In the blink of an eye, he was gone. Graduation was fun with the teachers showing their true colors and getting out there and flashmobbing for the kids!
July 4th blew by and suddenly it was time to prepare for Europe! At the last moment possible, we realized that Eric's passport expired THIS year and not NEXT year! That pushed the trip back by 5 days as we scrambled to put it all together.
The trip itself was most excellent! Seeing old friends and a few new ones was joyous! Reconnecting with Europe with my son tightened our bond.
Suddenly we hit a wall when it was time to come home. United placed an embargo on Friends and Family travel out of Europe. Thank Heaven for Chris and his US Air connection or we would still be there.
Sadness hit upon the return, as five days later, I lost my father. When I left, he was very stable, reading his newspaper and watching his beloved Yankees. I was only able to see him once after returning. But, as a friend said to me, I had already had seven months to say goodbye, which I tried to remember every time I saw him.
